It is crucial to Tulip that both our own staff and our suppliers act responsibly towards staff and environment. Therefore we require all of our suppliers to sign a Code of Conduct. Tulip’s Code of Conduct details a number of rules, which protect the rights of employees and also reduce the environmental impact of production.

Suppliers’ suppliers

Tulip requires all our suppliers to accept the “Tulip Code of Conduct for Suppliers”. We also encourage our partners to use this Code of Conduct as a basis for cooperation with their own suppliers.

General demands on suppliers

Tulip’s suppliers must take all relevant and necessary initiatives and measures to ensure compliance with our rules. To abide by Tulip’s Code of Conduct, suppliers must be prepared to provide Tulip with information that proves their compliance.
Tulip requires that our suppliers follow the laws of the countries in which they operate.

General demands

Suppliers must respect that Tulip’s employees commit themselves to act with honesty, integrity and trustworthiness. Therefore Tulip’s employees cannot accept anything changing – directly or indirectly – the supplier’s commitments to Tulip, thus violating Tulip’s Code of Conduct.

Violation of “Tulip’s Code of Conduct for Suppliers” can have the result that Tulip ends the partnership.

Human rights

Tulip expects all suppliers to respect the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Child labour

Tulip’s suppliers must respect the rights of children to receive education and must not engage in or tolerate the use of child labour. Child labour is defined as any person under the age of 15 – unless local minimum age laws stipulate a higher age and/or mandatory schooling, in which case the higher age shall apply.

Forced labour and equal opportunities

Tulip’s suppliers must provide equal opportunities for its employees. They must also never discriminate according to race, sex, age, religion, marital status or sexual orientation. Tulip also rejects the use of forced labour.

Trade unions, wages and working hours

Tulip’s suppliers must respect the rights of employees to form and join trade unions of their choice and to bargain collectively. They must also comply with applicable laws and industry standards concerning working hours.

Health and safety

Tulip’s suppliers must provide a safe working environment that complies or exceeds national laws and regulations.


Tulip’s suppliers must commit themselves to behave in an environmentally sustainable manner. Suppliers must continually minimize the impact of their activities on the surrounding environment by establishing a range of environment measures in full compliance with current legislation.

Suppliers must strive to reduce waste and emissions to the atmosphere, earth and water and all chemicals must be handled in an environmentally friendly way. They must also dispose of hazardous waste in an environmentally friendly manner. Tulip’s suppliers must develop and supply environmentally sustainable products and services.

Tulip encourages suppliers to implement management systems based on international standards that monitor the environmental impact of the suppliers’ activities.
